Countrywide load shedding affects daily life

LAHORE: The ongoing power crisis in the country has intensified with 16 hours of power outages, badly affecting daily life in various cities. WAPDA officials have been claiming since long to address power crisis, but despite these tall claims, the country remains in the grip of worst power outages. PEPCO has not issued any schedule of load shedding and in Lahore power crisis has intensified with over 8 hours of power outage. Water supply is also affected during the unannounced load shedding. Acknowledging current power crisis, Federal Minister for Water and Power, Raja Pervez Ashraf termed lowering of power generation through thermal resources and dearth of water reservoirs as main cause of massive load shedding in the country. He assured the people that government would end load shedding by December 2009.
