Powers hands over to elected representatives in Northera Areas: Memon

SKARDU: Federal Minister for Information and Media Development and Chief Executive Northern Areas Nisar A. Memon has said that powers have been transferred to elected representatives of Gilgit-Baltistan areas.

Talking to a delegation here Saturday, he said that with the transfer of powers to the elected representatives, the role of Ministry of Kashmir Affairs have been completely ended.

He said that those contractors who have no job will be exempted from fee charges but their names would be included temporarily in the list of tenders, offered by Building Departments until the payment of fee in the Engineering Council.

He advised the Advisor Forests to submit a report about the requirement of fuel woods in the area.

The Minster said that President has decided to establish different gas units which would be expanded to Gilgit-Baltistan area.

Later talking to the newsmen he said that one District and Session Judge, three Additional Session Judges and a Senior Civil Judge will be appointed soon at each district in the area to strengthen the Judiciary system here.

The Minister also hinted the establishment of Cable network and T.V. channels in the area.

The Minister also met a delegation of affectees living on the border area and assured them that Government has already sanctioned two crore rupees and more four crore rupees would be given to them.

To a question, he said that Pakistani troops have given a befitted reply in response to Indian firing on the border area.
