Prof Ihasan selected for Pakistan Lecture series program
PESHAWAR: The American Institute of Pakistan Studies has selected professor Dr Ihsan Ali of the Department of Archaeology, University of Peshawar, as a speaker in the Pakistan Lecture Series Program for the current session, said a statement here.
Dr Ihsan is expected to deliver lectures at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Harvard, New York University, University of Pennsylvania, Washington State University, University of Oregon, University of Michigan and University of Chicago. Dr JM Kenoyer of the University of Wisconsin-Madison will organize schedule of this lecture tour and the American Institute of Pakistan Studies will sponsor the trip.
Born in a small village (Mani Khela) of Charsadda district in 1955, Dr Ali graduated from the University of Peshawar in Archaeology in 1980 securing a Gold Medal. In 1986 he was awarded a British Council Fellowship for specialization in Archaeology at the University College London, from where he secured a degree in Field Archaeology in 1989.
In 1994, the government selected him for a fellowship (COTS) Central Overseas Training Fellowship for a PhD at the University of Cambridge, UK. He completed his studies at Cambridge University on the Archaeology of Peshawar valley and was awarded a PhD degree in December 2000. The University of Peshawar has recently promoted him to the post of professor, while the government of NWFP has requisitioned his services on deputation as Provincial Director of Archaeology and Museums.
