Musharraf To Visit Azerbaijan From July 8

ISLAMABAD: (PNS) - President General Pervez Musharraf will pay a three-day state visit to Azerbaijan from July 8 to 10 and hold talks with the leadership to further enhance bilateral ties between the two countries.

The President will be accompanied by Begum Sehba Musharraf, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Minister for Privatization, Members of Parliament, Governor State Bank, Foreign Secretary and senior officials.

President Musharraf will be accorded a warm welcome in Baku when he arrives on July 8 at the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev. It will be followed by official talks with the President of Azerbaijan to be followed by a joint press conference.

President Aliyev will host a banquet in honour of the President. President Musharraf and President Aliyev will witness the ceremony for signing of agreements for enhancing bilateral cooperation in diverse fields.

The President will address a special session of the Parliament of Azerbaijan on July 9. Pakistan and Azerbaijan have traditionally enjoyed close and cordial relations. The two countries share perceptions on major global and regional issues and work closely together in multilateral forums on issues of mutual interest.
