Girls college for Haripur promised

HARIPUR: The demand of the Haripur district government for setting up a new degree college for women, has been accepted by the Frontier government.

District nazim, Dr Raja Amir Zaman, said this while speaking as chief guest at a function held at Sintec Systems Institute of Information Technology, Haripur on Wednesday.

The college, said the nazim, was a legitimate and long-standing demand of people of Haripur. The female students have been facing severe difficulties in admissions to the degree classes since long but unfortunately no heed was paid to their demand, he added.

He thanked the provincial government for taking concrete measures on the district government request to establish a new girls college and hoped that the work on this project would be started within a couple of months.

Raja Amir said that in order to monitor the progress and efficiency of the public sector educational institutions parent-teacher associations have been formed in almost all the primary schools of the district.

Emphasizing the need for information technology as well as other kinds of technical education the district nazim said that all the government high and higher secondary schools were being equipped with computer laboratories.

He appreciated the role being played by private sector IT institutions and said that the government will continue to encourage such institutions. These institutions, he said had provided an opportunity to the local students to get quality education in their hometown.

He also welcomed the interest being shown by the female students in acquiring IT education and called upon them to prepare themselves for the future challenges.
