People want quick resolution of opposition-government row over LFO

ISLAMABAD: Majority of Pakistanis want an immediate resolution of the government and opposition over the controversial Legal Framework Order, a survey of NNI reveals.

Sixty persons of sample of 100 Pakistani men, women and youth think an early settlement of the differences between the government and opposition in the parliament over LFO is in the best national interest. Out of remaining 40 of the sample surveyed on the subject, 20 percent have favored the opinion that LFO must be presented in the parliament for discussion to make it part of the constitution. The other 20 percent strongly favored an idea that LFO must remain part of the constitution under the formula of transit civilian and military government.

The 60 percent people interviewed were of the view that the politicians must understand the prevailing scenario at international and regional level and should not make LFO a problem to their ego and the issue must be settled with immediate effect for the betterment of Pakistan and for the continuity of the democracy in the country.

The respondents said that the nation had had great expectations from its first all-graduate parliament, but had been let down by their childish behavior and meaningless interruptions of assembly proceedings. They also felt that both parties were not sincere in resolving the issue since every problem can be solved through negotiation and consultation.

The majority were of the opinion that the government and opposition were >unsheathing swords over a mere triviality, when the more pressing issues of furthering the cause of democracy and solutions to the masses growing > problems remained neglected.

They said the common man worried about his next meal, and countless educated youth remained unemployed, their representatives were wasting their time debating on LFO. They urged the politicians to please come back to earth and start being realistic about the problems confronting the nation.
