Help Build Mosque in Salt Lake City
By Masood Ul-Hasan
President, Khadeeja Islamic Center, Salt Lake City
Since the September 11, 2001 tragedy, Islam has been in the media spotlight. While stories of anti-Muslim harassment have made the news, positive developments have also surfaced. Copies of the Qur’an and books about Islam are selling like never before. Mosques are playing a key role by hosting open houses in their communities to explain what Islam is all about. As a result, a number of people have become Muslim! It is clear that mosques are now not just centers of prayer and community building, but also of Dawa.
This is why I would like to kindly request your help in completing the Khadeeja Islamic Center (Phase II).
Construction work on the second phase began on August 8, 2001. To comply with contract stipulations and avoid possible delays caused by the ensuing Olympics in Salt Lake City, we must complete the project by February 8, 2002. The total cost of this project has been estimated at $1.2 million. We have raised $300,000. Now, we are in need of $900,000.
This is a great opportunity for Muslims to contribute to the building of Allah’s (SWT) house, and thereby invest for the hereafter. Our beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever helps build a mosque, and he does so only to please Allah (SWT), Allah (SWT) will build a house for him in the paradise.
Please make checks/money orders payable to The Islamic Society of Greater Salt Lake, and mail at P.O. Box 58844 Salt Lake City, UT 84158. Your contributions are tax deductible (Tax ID#31-1273233). For further questions, please e-mail at: ulhasan@home.com .
