The Nero Who Drank while Pakistan Sank! Omer Bin Abdullah, Virginia

Are you telling us that Yahya, the Nero who drank while Pakistan sank, was an honorable man? If Yahya had ever been sober, the evil ZAB would not have succeeded, at least so easily. Yahya was obviously born in a Muslim household and knew that alcohol consumption is forbidden. He chose to defy God, and thus suffered the consequences, and poor Pakistan suffered in the bargain, because the people did, and still tolerate, such drunks in public office [the present junta not excepted!] and regrettably some wise men choose to extol those who break the laws of God.

I am obviously not well versed in the Zoroastrian faith, and if God forbid alcohol is allowed to you, then please don’t judge a Muslim by such standards. Yahya and all alcohol imbibing Muslims are criminals who don’t deserve the public trust, especially our defense. Pakistan is an Islamic state — at least this is what we told God when we requested for it — and breaking the laws of Islam is as serious as committing a crime under Cr. PC.

Even thinking Christians are trying to work with Muslim Americans to combat alcohol and drugs. Men like Siraj Wahhaj are even featured in the NYT for their anti-drug feats. I, as editor of the largest circulating Muslim magazine (Horizon) in the US, receive calls from non-Muslims to connect them to Muslims to fight drugs and alcohol, and breakdown of families, and you call alcohol users “broad-minded”. Perhaps, you have the other connotation of “broad” in view!

On Monday, I returned from Chicago where 35,000 Muslim Americans attended the Annual Convention of the Islamic Society of North America. The chair of the anti-alcohol group, a devout Christian, came and pleaded from the podium for Muslim cooperation in their Jihad.
