Late G.A. Jahangir

I am saddened to learn, through the column of Mr. Arif Hussaini, of the untimely demise of G.A. Jahangir. Jahangir was an old friend and colleague of mine when both of us served on the faculty of Sind Muslim College in Karachi. I think it was in 1957 when he was selected in the Civil Service and during the celebration he had expressed his displeasure on being assigned to the Customs Department. There is no doubt he was a gem of a person and in the corrupt culture of Pakistan an unusually honest and competent bureaucrat. May God bless his soul.
