Need for Pakistan Engineers Alumni Association of North America
Babuddin Ahmad , San Diego, CAI had suggested in these columns the formation of an NED University Alumni Association of North America (Pakistan Link August 4, 2000). But it occurred to me later that we could accomplish a lot more if instead of restricting ourselves to the NED University we were to form an association of engineers on an all-Pakistan basis.
Pakistani engineers, including those holding a BS in Engineering from a foreign university, could be members of the proposed association. Graduates from Polytechnic institutes, which award three-year diplomas in engineering, could also be eligible for membership of the association.
As for the organizational structure, my suggestion is that the association should have a president heading it; a president for each engineering institution of Pakistan, e.g. NED University, Karachi; University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, and so on; a president for all engineers having BS degree from a foreign university; and regional office bearers.
We, the NEDians in San Diego county, urge fellow engineers from Pakistan to give this proposal a serious thought and to show initiative and enterprise in laying the foundation of the association. Allah SBT has granted us a unique opportunity to serve our country.
