Thank You, Farooq A. Khan Arif Hussaini, Anaheim, California
Readers of Pakistan Link must be feeling thankful to Mr. Farooq Ahmad Khan for the series of articles he wrote on the conduct of Yaha Khan which has been eulogized quite illogically and as subjectively by columnist Cowasjee. I was in the government too at that time and having been sucked into a high-level committee dealing with the East Pakistan crisis, I had the advantage of watching at close quarters the casual and shortsighted manner the issues were being handled, particularly by the high-ranking men in uniform on that committee. The civilians like me were treated by them like brain-dead pygmies.
The incidents described by Farooq Khan Sahib were already in my knowledge. His is a first hand account. His senior colleague, Rao Rashid, has also talked about those in his book. So are mentions of them in Roedad Khan’s book. He was the Information Secretary and my boss at that time. Thank you again Farooq Sahib for not holding back your breath. You have done what every honest Pakistani ought to have done.
