No more dialogue: Wasi
ISLAMABAD: Law Minister Wasi Zafar said on Monday
that the government has completed consultations with the Muttahida
Majlis-e-Amle (MMA) on the Protection of Women Bill. “The consultations
chapter is closed now. The bill will be passed by the parliament at
the end of the current month or first week of next month,” the
minister told reporters. Mr Zafar said that the government would incorporate
amendments in the bill proposed by an ulema committee. “The
bill cannot be sent to the select committee again,” he added.
“The select committee was made for a special purpose and the
one made for the bill has done its job and no longer valid.”
