army operation being conducted in Swat: PM
KARACHI:
Prime Minister, Shaukat Aziz has said that the talks for the restoration
of democracy with all the parties were in progress.
Addressing a press conference at the Governor
House here, the prime minister said that the government desires restoration
of democracy. He said that the Muslim League-N was a reality and a major
party and the government’s talks were also continuing with the
ML-N, but no deal was being cut with any party, he hastened to add.
The prime minister said nothing about the homecoming of Nawaz Sharif.
Regarding Swat standoff, Shaukat Aziz
said that no army operation was being conducted in Swat, while the police
and security forces were striving for the maintenance of law and order.
“We do not want loss of life in Swat, the local administration
had requested the federal government for the deployment of army to maintain
law and order,” he disclosed.
The prime minister during the press
conference said that the investigations into the Karsaz tragedy were
underway and the facts would be made public.
