MQM to remain neutral on BB’s return: Rizvi

By Hasan Ali

LAHORE: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) will remain impartial on the return of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairwoman Benazir Bhutto to the country on October 18, MQM Member of the National Assembly Haider Abbas Rizvi told Daily Times on Tuesday

Rizvi said that the coordination committee of the party, with the consent of party leader Altaf Hussain, has decided that the party will remain impartial on Bhutto’s arrival and will not interfere in any kind of activity.

He said it has been decided that if workers and leaders of the PPP want to peacefully celebrate the return of their leader, MQM will help them in keeping a peaceful environment in Karachi on the day.

Talking about the restriction regarding the display of banners, posters and wall chalking in Karachi by Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Rizvi said the MQM would not interfere in the matter. “If a party could become popular among the masses by displaying banners and posters or doing wall chalking, the Jamaat-e-Islami would have become the most popular party as it has done a lot of publicity,” he added.
