Army capable to defeat all threats: Kayani
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army is well equipped, highly motivated
and fully capable to defeat all dimensions of conventional and unconventional
threats posed to the country’s security and integrity, Vice
Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani said on Thursday.
He was addressing officers of the Command and Staff
College, Quetta. He said restructuring and modernising of the army
through a long-term development plan was progressing well.
“It is harmonisation of socio-political, administrative
and military strategies that will usher an environment of peace and
stability in the long term. Ultimately it is the will of the people
and their support that is decisive. It is critical that Pakistan Army’s
efforts are backed by the nation,” he added.
He urged army officers to focus on professionalism and
training which he said was the key to operational preparedness. The
army vice chief praised training standards at the college and said
that it was the oldest and one of the finest military institutes.
Earlier, on arrival his arrival at Quetta, the army
vice chief was received by Lieutenant General Khalid Shameem Wyne,
commander of Southern Command. app
