UAE urged to review decision of TV broadcasts
suspension
DUBAI:
Committee of Protect Journalists has written a letter to His Highness
UAE Vice President and Ruler of Dubai Shaikh Muhammad Bin Rashid Al-Maktoom
urging him to restore transmission of Pakistani channels in Dubai.
The Committee said the journalist community has felt
strongly by the decision of Dubai Media City to suspend the transmission
of Geo TV since last Friday.
After the said decision, Geo News is still off air after
the passage of five days. This decision is in conflict with the commitment
of UAE for transforming Dubai into an enlightened society and a stable
economy.
According to media reports, the said decision was taken
on severe pressure from Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf
and the same has damaged the confidence of the broadcasters and investors.
The letter demanded of the UAE government to reconsider
its decision of suspending Pakistani channels.
