Canada, South Korea assure all possible assistance
for quake affectees
ISLAMABAD, Nov.14 : The Parliamentarians of Canada,
South Korea expressed profound grief over the loss of precious human
lives and the damage caused to the infrastructure. The members of
the delegation assured that, as far as possible, the two countries
would extend all possible assistance for providing relief to the affectees
and also assist the AJK Government in the reconstruction process.
A-9 member delegation of Asia-Pacific Parliamentarians
Conference on Environment and Development (APPCED) comprising Parliamentarians
from Canada & South Korea separately called on the AJK President,
Sardar Muhammad Anwar and the AJK Prime Minister, Sardar Sikandar
Hayat Khan and discussed the post earthquake situation in Azad Jammu
Kashmir.
Senator Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry, Secretary General APPCED; Senator Muhammad
Amjad Abbas, Vice President APPCED; Senator Dr. Nighat Agha and Secretary
Senate, Raja Muhammad Amin accompanied the delegation.
The AJK President, Sardar Muhammad Anwar Khan and the
Prime Minister of AJK, Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan apprised the delegation
of the losses in terms of human lives, property and the infrastructure
caused by the recent earthquake and the measures being taken to overcome
the losses.
Earlier, the APPCED delegation visited various relief camps in Muzaffarabad,
met the affected persons and sympathized with them. The members of
the delegation distributed relief goods among the affectees including
warm clothes. The visit of the APPCED delegation is being coordinated
by Senate Secretariat.
