Army team starts study of post quake seismic
activities
PESHAWAR, Nov 10 : An integrated team of Army Engineers
Survey Group, Geologists of international repute and town planners
have started work to study post quake seismic activities along the
fault line and would compile data in the earthquake hit areas on Thursday.
Main tasks of the team will be to determine the quantum
of already released and the remaining energy as well as possible direction,
says a press release of ISPR issued here on Thursday.
The study will also counter check the findings of Army
Survey Group already operating in the area and analyze chances of
major aftershocks or earthquake in northern areas.
The team of experts includes Geological Technical Engineers,
Geological Physicist and Geo Daisy who determine the shape of earth
and is equipped with latest censors, topographic instruments, and
drilling plants for collection of ground samples.
The Turkish Disaster Management Team and a French expert
in geological physics and specialization in seismic energy have also
joined Army Survey Group.
The team has installed censors at Balakot and Allai
areas and will also carry out study in other quake struck areas of
NWFP, Kashmir and Gilgit as well.
The town planners will plan and suggest areas
and type of model town and
villages in light of recommendations and findings of joint team.
