JPMC National Epilepsy Centre closed
KARACHI: The under-construction National Epilepsy Centre at Jinnah Post-Graduate Centre (JPMC) has been closed and treatment of patients stopped after differences cropped up between hospital administration and an NGO. A few years back the hospital and NGO – Nuerology Fund – signed an memorandum of understanding for establishment of the Epilepsy Centre. It was agreed to complete the project under public-private partnership and to hand over the centre to the hospital administration after it goes operational for one year. The patients are facing severe hardship after the closure of the centre.
