OIC endorses Pakistan for UN rights body

UNITED NATIONS: An ambassadorial-level meeting of members of the OIC on Friday unanimously endorsed Pakistan’s bid for re-election to the UNHRC, according to a press release. Elections for the Human Rights Council, which is a 47-member body, are scheduled for May 21 in the General Assembly. The 47 seats in the UNHRC are distributed among the UN’s regional groups as follows: 13 for Africa, 13 for Asia, six for Eastern Europe, eight for Latin America and the Caribbean, and seven for the Western European and Others Group. pr
