PPP sounds ML-Q for constitutional package support
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has indirectly approached Muslim League-Q leadership for getting the impending constitutional package approved from the parliament. Senior journalist Tahir Khalil quoting sources told that the PPP-ML-Q backdoor contacts discussed deposed judges re-instatement, independence of judiciary and the envisaged constitutional package. Sources said that these matters also came under discussion in yesterday’s meeting of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Ellahi with the President Pervez Musharraf. ML-Q leadership made it clear that the proposed constitutional package would not be supported unconditionally besides it would only be considered after the draft package comes to the fore. It was also suggested that ML-Q special legal committee be also consulted in the formulation of the proposed constitutional package in a bid to get it unanimously approved by the government and the opposition together in the parliament. Sources also told that several proposals were also under discussion for averting any confrontation and clash in the national politics. Sources said that taking MQM on board the government was also a prelude to such direction.
