Altaf tells party workers to turn the other cheek
LAHORE: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain
has appealed to supporters of his party to exercise tolerance in the
face of “inflammatory statements” made to the media by
“a politician”, an apparent reference to Imran Khan, who
has accused Mr Hussain of “terrorism” and blamed him for
the violence in Karachi on May 12.
Geo television reported that Mr Hussain asked his supporters
to be patient, refrain from demonstrations and clean up city walls
of graffiti insulting Mr Khan. He asked workers and elected representatives
of the MQM to be “decent and civilised” when responding
to accusations against the party. “I fully understand your sentiments
and anger but appeal to you to keep your sentiments under control,”
he said. He directed the workers to exercise tolerance and show to
the world that they are peaceful people. daily times monitor
