MMA bid to hold public meeting at Bhati Chowk
refused
LAHORE:
MMA road caravan that had set off from Rawalapindi will terminate
here today, however, the administration has turned down MMA seeking
permission to hold a concluding public meeting at the Bhati Chowk.
MMA road caravan starting May 27 has completed its two
phases—Rawalpindi-Gojranawala and then on to Faisalabad. The
caravan in its last phase left Faisalabad en-route Okara for Lahore
this morning.
MMA leaders told that a concluding public meeting would
be held tonight at the Bhati Gate for which permission has been obtained
from the administration and added that they also have had meetings
with the police and the district administration for making arrangements
in this regard.
On the contrary, Lahore DCO, Mohammad Aijaz Mian
told that MMA has been given permission to hold public meeting at
the Minar-e-Pakistan only. Talking to Geo News, DCO said that MMA
could not be given permission to hold meeting at the Bhati Gate in
view of public interests.
