Resolution of Kashmir must for durable peace
in South Asia: Musharraf
ISLAMABAD:
President General Pervez Musharraf Tuesday stressed that there was
now an urgent need to make progress in conflict resolution, in particular
the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in order to consolidate the peace process
for durable peace in South Asia.
He was talking to Ms. Nirmala Deshpande, a member of
the Indian Rajya Sabha, who called on him here at Aiwan-e-Sadr on
Tuesday.
Ms. Deshpande apprised the President of her efforts
for the promotion of peace between Pakistan and India.
The lawmaker, who heads the Indian Chapter of Pakistan-India
Friendship Group in the Indian Parliament, also informed the President
about her recent activities in the field of rural development in India.
The President commended Ms. Deshpande for her
efforts to promote peace between India and Pakistan and briefed her
on the progress being made in the Composite Dialogue, including the
Confidence Building Measures.
