Avoid new moves in CJ case, Shujaat asks PM
Daily Times Monitor
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President Chaudhry
Shujaat Hussain has asked Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz not to issue
any new order till the Supreme Court gives a decision in the chief
justice case, Geo television reported on Friday.
During a meeting with Aziz, the PML chief said that
the government should accept the Supreme Court’s decision in
the chief justice case. He asked the prime minister to support him
(Hussain) and also convince President Pervez Musharraf not to issue
any new order in the prevailing situation, the channel said.
The channel quoted sources as saying that a group of
PML lawyers had asked the government to ask judges to take fresh oath
of their offices, but Hussain opposed the proposal, saying that it
would harm the government. An official press release on the meeting
said that both prime minister and the PML chief discussed development
projects in detail, the channel added.
Separately, Hussain told reporters after meeting with
Aziz that the Islamabad administration mishandled the children’s
library issue. He said Aziz had directed the CDA to reconstruct demolished
mosques.
