resolve for peace should not be regarded as a weakness: Musharraf
KARACHI:
Reiterating government resolve for peaceful settlement of all outstanding
issues with the neighbouring countries including Kashmir issue, President
General Pervez Musharraf on Saturday said Pakistan’s desire for
peace in the region should not, at all, be regarded as a weakness.
“Pakistan does not have aggressive
design against any country, but Pakistani armed forces have the great
resilience and potential to give befitting response to any aggression,”
he said while addressing a gathering of army officers here.
The steps are being taken to make our
defence more invincible under armed forces development plan, he said,
adding that it is among the top priories of the government.
The extremism is the biggest menace for
Pakistan as some elements are spreading hatred and misconceptions in
name of Islam, the president said.
However, he said the nation should
stand up against this trend to get rid of extremism, which is must for
the bright future of people and prosperity of country.
