Rashid Rauf extradition conditionally stalled: Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The alleged mastermind of the London terror plot, British-born Pakistani Rashid Rauf could not be extradited to London until the cases filed in Pakistan are over, interior ministry spokesman said Wednesday.

The government will make foolproof security arrangements on the occasion of chief justice’s Lahore visit on May 5.

Giving a weekly news briefing here, the Interior Ministry Spokesman Brig (R) Javed Iqbal Cheema said that by and large, the law and order in the country remained satisfactory; however, some untoward incidents occurred as a result of pelting stones on police.

Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao is leaving for Afghanistan tomorrow to attend the joint meeting of Pak-Afghan Jirga, where he is scheduled to meet Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

Talking to Geo News, the spokesman said that Rashid Rauf would not be handed to Britain until the cases ruling are given.
