Pakistan tests indigenously developed UAV
Staff Report
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan has successfully conducted the final test flight of its indigenously developed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), Uqaab, an army statement said on Thursday. The statement said Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, as well as other senior officers and scientists, witnessed the test flight. The flight data collected during the test indicates that all design parameters have been successfully validated, and the performance of Uqaab can be compared to any modern state of the art UAV, according to the statement. “[Thursday’s] successful flight test was preceded by a series of trials in 2007 and is a reflection of Pakistan’s technical prowess in the field of UAV technology. It is a tribute to the dedication and professionalism of scientists and engineers,” it said. The COAS congratulated the scientists and engineers on their success, saying they had shown their versatile capabilities by delivering the new technology of UAVs.
