New govt historic moment: president
ISLAMABAD: President Pervez Musharraf told former US representative to the UN Richard Holbrooke on Monday that the convening of the new parliament was a “historic moment” made possible by the fair polls on Feb 18. He said the country would continue to “progress on the path of democracy and economic growth,” a FO statement said. Musharraf reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to fight terrorism, and called for accelerating work on development initiatives. Holbrooke agreed on the need for enhanced US support for such initiatives. staff report
