AKTI, transport outfits call for strike tomorrow

KARACHI: All Karachi Transport Ittehad (AKTI) and other transport organizations have announced observing strike tomorrow (March18) in protest against the enhancement of prices of petrol and diesel. Transporters warned that if the enhancement in petrol and diesel prices were not withdrawn, then an indefinite strike would be observed. A meeting of the representative organizations of the transporters was held here with the AKTI president, Irshad Bukhari in chair. Addressing the meeting the office-bearers of the transporters organizations said that the political parties didn’t raise their voices against the recent increase in petrol and diesel prices, which would bring heavily financial burden on the people. The meeting decided to observe strike tomorrow, but the rickshaw and taxi would not join the strike.
