PM slot Makhdoom’s right, says Pir Pagaro

By Qazi Asif

KARACHI: The chief of the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) Pir Pagaro has announced his support for the Pakistan Peoples Party-Parliamentarian’s Makhdoom Amin Fahim as a candidate for prime minister because it was Fahim’s “right” and he didn’t accept it in the past. This emerged during a lunch meeting Pagaro had with former prime minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali at Kingri House Saturday. While the media was not privy to the meeting, a spokesman later said that Pagaro had told Jamali that, “We are extending our support to Makhdoom Amin Fahim because the PM’s slot would be his right. I will speak in support for those who deserve it and for the right kind of person.”Pagaro felt that Fahim had been very loyal to the PPP and Benazir Bhutto which is why he had not accepted chance to become PM in the past. “Now the [office] is right of Makhdoom Amin Fahim,” he was reported as saying. Over the past two years, ties between Kingri House and Makhdoom Amin Fahim have been tense. During the last elections, Pagaro had supported Fahim’s rival Makhdoom Shahnawaz.
