Demos in province to protest against blasphemous cartoons

KARACHI: Strike was observed across Sindh province including Karachi on Friday to mark protest against the publication of blasphemous cartoons in European newspapers. Suni Tehreek called strike in Hyderabad and took out a rally from Phuleli to Nasim Nagar. Rallies were also taken out in Jamshoro, Talhar, Ktori, Dadu, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Badin and Nawabshah. Protest was also staged in Sukkur in which workers of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam also participated. Speaking on the occasion at Ghantaghar Chowk, the participants demanded of the government to end the diplomatic relations with Denmark. Shutter-down strike was observed in Mirpurkhas on the call given by Suni Tehreek. All the petrol pumps were closed while shops in Degree, Jhando and Naukot also remained shut. Markets of Jacobabad were also kept closed on the strike call of Suni Tehreek.
