Poverty lessened in 8 years of Musharraf era: Punjab Governor

LAHORE: Punjab Governor, Khalid Maqbool said that the poverty diminished during the eight years of Musharraf era, but lacs of people were still living in extreme poverty. Addressing a Pakistan Baitul Maal ceremony here, Punjab Governor, Khalid Maqbool said that the President Musharraf was handing over the rein of a progressing government. He said that Baitul Maal distributed a paltry sum of Rs70000 per annum eight years ago, while Rs120 million were being given today. Kahlid Maqbool said that apart from free education in Punjab, the patients in all the hospitals were also being provided emergency medicines free of cost. Punjab Governor also distributed cheques of Rs61 million among the deserving persons.
