No differences in party over candidate for PM: Qaim
HYDERABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Sindh President Syed Qaim Ali Shah said there are no differences in the party over the candidate for premiership. The PPP leadership is making efforts to form government both in at the centre and in provinces with national consensus for larger interests of the country, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, stated this while talking to newsmen after presiding over a meeting of the newly elected Members Sindh Assembly from Hyderabad Division here at the residence of MPA- elect Syed Ali Nawaz Shah Rizvi on Sunday afternoon. Responding to a question regarding the results of dialogues with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Syed Qaim Ali Shah said the PPP delegation met with the MQM leadership for the welfare and larger interests of Sindh. "We held negotiation on issues of the province at Nine-Zero (MQM headquarters) and when the MQM delegation will come to Bilawal House, further discussions on these issues will be carried out," he said. Sindh PPP chief said though PPP has reservations and complaints of rigging in some constituencies of Karachi and Hyderabad, however it is a fact that MQM enjoys the support of majority of people of both these cities. The PPP is looking forward to the agenda of prosperous Sindh and working in the same direction, he said. Though some party leaders have complaints of non- acceptance of the mandate of PPP in 2002 General Elections in Sindh, however, the PPP leadership believes in dialogues. About the meeting of newly elected MPAs from Hyderabad Division, Syed Qaim Ali Shah said the purpose of the meeting was to take the newly elected party members into confidence regarding the dialogues with MQM. About the absence of some elected MPAs including Makhdoom Jamil- uz-Zaman, who is President PPP Hyderabad Division and son of PPP Senior Vice Chairman Makhdoom Muhammad Amin Fahim, the Provincial PPP Chief said 13 elected party members of the division attended the meeting while the others could not attend the meeting because of their pre-occupation. Replying to a question about any rift among the party leaders regarding nomination of prime minister and Sindh chief minister, Syed Qaim Ali dispelled such impressions adding that the central party leadership would make all decisions keeping in view the larger interests of the country. There are many candidates for the slot of prime minister and Sindh chief minister, but all party leaders and workers would accept the decision, whatever is taken by the central leadership, he added. Responding to another question, Syed Qaim Ali Shah said after forming the government in Sindh, PPP would conduct detailed investigation into the incidents of May 12 and October 18, 2007 as well as the murder of PPP leaders and workers including Munnawar Suharwardi.
