Fazl gives consent to PPP for consensus government
ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) Saturday held a meeting with Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and expressed his readiness to become a part of the national consensus government. "We had given our consent to the PPP for becoming a part of the national consensus government at the Centre as well as in provinces," said JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman while talking to the newsmen at the Zardari House after holding a meeting with PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari here. Maulana Fazlur Rehman accompanied by JUI-F Balochistan Ameer Maulana Muhammad Khan Sheerani met Asif Ali Zardari and the meeting lasted for around 90 minutes. It was the second meeting between the two leaders as on Thursday evening Asif Ali Zardari went to the residence of Senator Muhammad Talha to hold meeting with Maulana Fazlur Rehman. A day earlier, President PML-Q Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain also held meeting with Maulana Muhammad Khan Sheerani to seek JUI-F support for the formation of the government in Balochistan. According to sources, during the meeting both the parties agreed to go into coalition in Balochistan as well as at the Centre. Sources said more meetings in the future are also on the cards to finalise the cabinet slots that would be offered to the JUI-F in the federal cabinet. Fazl told media persons that though there was an agreement with the PPP on the question of national consensus government yet the modalities had to be worked out. "There was no major differences on the issue of national consensus government as we have presented our priorities for the national consensus government that was accepted by Asif Ali Zardari and I came here in this regard and once all the issues be settled then the nation would be taken into the confidence," he added. He said this meeting was also a part of the consultation to work out modalities for the formation of the government of national consensus. When asked about his priorities, Fazl said the implementation of the Constitution in letter and spirit to bring the country out of the crisis.
