Token boycott of courts and hunger strike in
Karachi
KARACHI:
Karachi lawyers boycotted court proceedings for one hour and observe
token hunger strike Tuesday on the call of Sindh High Court Bar Association
and Karachi Bar Association here.
Four Sindh Bar Council members observed token hunger
strike at Sindh High Court Bar Room to express dissent against declaring
the chief justice non-functional.
The lawyers also boycotted court proceedings for one
hour.
The lawyers stayed away from courts to observe one hour
token boycott at the city courts on the call of Karachi Bar Association.
Ten lawyers observed hunger strike.
The lawyers led by Karachi Bar officials marched on
M.A Jinnah Road that caused traffic jam at the city’s key traffic
artery.
President Karachi Bar Iftikhar Javed Qazi addressing
the protesting lawyers demanded immediate restoration of the chief
justice.
The protesters later peacefully dispersed.
