Karachi lawyers hold protest march, observe
hunger strike
KARACHI:
Sindh High Court and Karachi Bar members staged a token boycott of
the court proceedings on Monday. They observed hunger strike followed
by a protest march to dissent against declaring the Chief Justice
of Pakistan non-functional.
The speakers addressing demonstrators vowed that the
lawyers struggle would continue till the restoration of non-functional
chief justice.
Five lawyers staged token hunger strike at Sindh High
Court Bar Association. On this occasion, a large number of lawyers
were present.
The speakers said that the lawyers are on the right;
accordingly, all political parties are supporting their cause.
Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chief Imran Khan, Karachi Bar Secretary-General
Naeem Qureshi and others addressed protestors at the Karachi Bar.
Imran Khan said that lawyers’ movement would
be victorious and demanded public hearing of the reference against
Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry.
