PbBC’s strike tomorrow to express solidarity with opposition

LAHORE: The Punjab Bar Council (PbBC), in a meeting on Saturday, decided to observe a complete strike tomorrow (Monday) across the province to express solidarity with the opposition parties for participating in the lawyers protest.

Former Bahawalpur civil judge Saeed Khurshid Ahmad, who had resigned in protest against the CJP’s suspension, also attended the meeting.

The PbBC conferred on Khurshid the honorary membership of all the bars of the province.

The meeting was headed by PbBC vice chairman Tariq Javed Warraich and executive committee chairman Arbab Ahmad Syed.

The meeting also decided to observe a complete strike in Rawalpindi division on March 28 when Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry will address the Rawalpindi High Court Bar Association.

Addressing the meeting, Khurshid said that he had resigned on the call of his conscience. He described the suspension of Justice Chaudhry as unconstitutional.
