President, PM resolve to transfer economic growth benefits to common
man
RAWALPINDI, Mar 28 (APP): President General Pervez
Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, who met in Rawalpindi Tuesday,
reviewed various aspects of the economic growth of the country and
expressed their resolve to transfer the benefits down to the common
man.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed various
initiatives taken by the government for poverty alleviation, job creation
and stability in the prices of essential items in the country.
They also discussed the plans for the provision of
basic facilities, such as health cover, safe drinking water, electricity
and natural gas to every village and town of the country. It was decided
to allocate maximum resources in this regard.
The general law and order situation also came under
discussion. The Prime Minister briefed the President on his recently
concluded visit to Balochistan.
They also discussed the regional geo-political scenario
and political environment in the country.
Later, the President and Prime Minister also met the
coalition leadership from the province of Sindh. They discussed matters
relating to the socio-economic uplift of the people of the province
and assured the provincial leaders that the Government was taking
all necessary measures for the progress and development of rural and
urban Sindh.
