Land communication of various areas of Balochistan
cut off from all over country

Heavy rains have made the situation worst in various areas of Balochistan.
Daily life routine stands still in many areas and the people are facing
much difficulties. The land communication of various areas has been
cut off from other areas of the country due to which life has become
paralysed.
Heavy rains and floods have inundated various districts
of Balochistan including Noshki, Kallat, Bolan, Jhal Magsi, Kharan,
Chaman, Sibi and Khuzdar while many national highways have been closed
for traffic of all types.
Traffic between Karachi and Quetta could still not be
resumed even four days after the two bridges washed off near Bela
city at the RCD highway, connecting Karachi to Quetta while the land
communication of Bela city is cut off from all over the country as
the bridge connecting Bela city to the RCD highway washed away. On
the other hand, traffic could not be resumed on the coastal highway
connecting Karachi to Gwadar and Makran division.
Considering the severe condition of Hub Dam due to rains,
DPO Lasbella Ghulam Ali Lashari has imposed emergency in the areas
of Hub River and advised the people to shift to safer places.
According to reports, flood waves entered the city of
Kharan and a large number of citizens took refuge in government buildings
and mosques while the land and telecommunication of Kharan city has
been cut off from all over the country.
In cities of Jhal Magsi, Bolan, Sibi and Gandawah, flood
water reached the level of up to eight feet whereas thousands of people
in the adjoining areas are stranded for the last two days. They have
no contact with the administration.
Floods have played havoc also in Manjoshori and Baghhead.
Thousands of people have become homeless and are seeking help from
the administration.
A fresh spell of rains came again in and around Chaman
today (Friday). The rain with dust storm and the flood waves from
the mountainous nullahs have closed the Quetta-Chaman highway at various
places. However, the roads are being opened by the district government
with the help of bulldozers.
Continuous rains have damaged the crops of grapes
and water melons. The district government is surveying to estimate
the losses borne by farmers.
