No single person has right to dissolve assemblies: Fazlur Rahman
ISLAMABAD:
Leader of the opposition in National Assembly, Maulana Fazlur Rahman
said that no dictatorial step for dissolution of assemblies be taken
due to which the country gets a bad name.
On the other hand, speaker National Assembly Chaudhry
Ameer Hussain said that journalists, lawyers, army and judges become
united on their matters but only the politicians not become united.
In his speech during the budget session in the National
Assembly, Maulana Fazlur Rahman said that the NWFP chief minister
would not take any undemocratic step like the dissolution of assembly.
He said that no single person has any right to dissolve the assemblies
after declaring the government a failure.
He further said that in removing Nawaz Sharif’s
government his policy of friendship with India was criticized but
later the same policy was adopted.
The Maulana said that if the British government confers
knighthood on Salman Rushdie then the Muslims also have the right
to award him death punishment. The punishment for insulting the Prophets
is definitely the death sentence.
He said that the MQM is responsible for the May 12 incident
and Imran Khan’s stand in this connection is absolutely right.
Farooq Sattar said that the MQM condemns the incident
of May 12 but the media is cross firing.
Various treasury bench members, including Shaikh Rasheed
Ahmed, declared Maulana Fazlur Rahman’s speech a sincere and
effective.
Shaikh Rasheed said that if the elections would not
be completely transparent than it would be a great loss of the country.
Minister for parliamentary affairs Dr. Sher Afgan said
that Imran Khan has insulted the house by calling its 70 per cent
members the thieves, dacoits and incompetent.
The Speaker National Assembly said that he has
completed his constitutional responsibility by sending the reference
against Imran Khan to the Election Commission then why his entry to
the Bar has been banned.
