NewsDeath toll in Karachi rain-related incidents rises to 19
KARACHI: At least 19 people were killed and over 50 others were injured in rain related incidents in Karachi as the heavy rain with windstorm and mud-storm hit the metropolis on the same day (Saturday), which was a hottest day of the summer in the city.
Several roofs, houses, walls were collapsed in several parts; billboards, poles and trees were uprooted on various roads including Shahra-e-Faisal. The incidents of electrocution were also reported in different parts of the metropolis as a result of the torrential rain.
The entire communication system was paralyzed in the metropolis. The city was plunged into darkness due to the mud-storm.
