President’s decision on NFC Award accepted
as protest: Farooq Sattar
ISLAMABAD:
The MQM parliamentary leader, Dr. Farooq Sattar said that President
Pervez Musharraf’s decision on NFC Award was accepted by them
not willingly but as protest.
Dr. Farooq Sattar said in a news conference at Islamabad
that the MQM has submitted a bill for provincial autonomy in the National
Assembly and he wanted this bill to be presented to the house during
the current session.
He said that the more powers to the centre create problems
for Pakistan.
Describing the important points of the bill, he said
that the matters of defense, foreign affairs and currency should be
with the federation and the remaining matters should go to the provinces.
He said that the points included in the federal legislative
be reduced from 55 to 35 and be eliminated from the concurrent list.
He said that the council of common interests be made
effective and active.
Dr. Farooq Sattar said that the NFC composition
should be changed and be related to the poverty, population, area
and resources provision.
