NWFP Assembly slams Rushdie’s knighthood
PESHAWAR: NWFP Assembly in a resolution unanimously approved here slammed the Britain honoring of a blasphemer Salman Rushdie by awarding him the prestigious title of ‘Sir’.
MMA members of the assembly Naeema Kishwar, Zubaida Khatoon, Maulana Amanat Shah and Gor Saran Lal moved the resolution condemning Britain for awarding the title ‘Sir’ to a blasphemer Salman Rushdie.
The resolution demanded rescinding the award, as it tantamount to offending the Muslims of the world and harming the global efforts for inter-religious harmony. The resolution further urged upon all the Muslim countries to severe their diplomatic relations with Britain, if the knighthood awarded to blasphemer Salman Rushdie was not reversed.
