Advani calls on NA Speaker
ISLAMABAD, June 01 : Speaker National Assembly
of Pakistan Ch. Amir Hussain has said that frequent interaction between
the parliamentarians and politicians from both the countries is a
significant development that would give impetus to the peace process,
strengthen the CBMs, help in peaceful resolution of the problems and
enhance people to people contacts. He said this while talking to Mr.
L.K. Advani, the President of BJP and the leader of the opposition
in the Indian Lok Saba, who called on him in his chamber in the Parliament
House, today.
Speaker National Assembly of Pakistan said that the dialogue process
between India and Pakistan was progressing well and both the countries
have realized to focus on growth, development and improving the quality
of lives of their people.
Ch. Amir Hussain said that both the countries have immense talent
and that needed to be leveraged to produce better living standard
and high economic growth. He called for better understanding between
the two countries and reducing the trust deficit.
He said that both the countries have agreed to resolve the Kashmir
issue that remained a source of tension in the region. Pakistan believed
that settlement of this issue has to reflect the aspiration and wishes
of the people of Kashmiri.
He expressed optimism that through sustained dialogue they would build
confidence to resolve all disputes including the core issue of Kashmir.
He appreciated the initiative of the top leadership of both the countries
regarding CBMs between the two. Referring to the recant visit of 47
MPs from Indian Punjab and the successful holding of the SARC countries
parliamentarian conference organized by SAFMA, the Speaker said that
parliamentarians should come forward and play their role in resolving
disputes and maintaining peace and stability in the region.
The Speaker said that the present favourable environment should be
utilized to address the issue with sincerity, flexibility and courage.
The President Baharatia Janta Party (BJP) L.K. Advani said that peace
between India and Pakistan was a must for the prosperity of South
Asia. His party was playing positive role in the parliament for successes
of dialogue between the two countries, he said.
He said that process of dialogue was initiated by the BJP and it wished
the dialogue to succeed. Ex-PM Vajpay’s visit to Lahore and
the Agra summit were the two historic events. However, people have
played important role in creating congenial atmosphere for peace talks,
he said.
Emphasizing the importance of dialogue between India and Pakistan,
he said that friendly relations between the two were the need of the
hour and there is complete unanimity among the people in both the
countries.
