Ambassador Haqqani meets Dick Cheney

WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States Husain Haqqani called on U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney and discussed a whole range of Pakistan-U.S. relations. During the 45-minute meeting at the White House, they discussed U.S. cooperation for Pakistan in meeting food and energy challenges facing the country. Their discussion also focused on cooperation in the fight against terrorism. The Pakistani envoy and Vice President Cheney discussed in detail the prime minister’s visit, particularly his meeting with President George Bush on Monday. Meanwhile, Ambassador Haqqani continued active diplomacy on the Capitol Hill Thursday and met with key Republican and Democratic lawmakers from both chambers of the Congress to secure support for Pakistan.
