Boucher lauds Pakistan’s role in war on terror

LAHORE: Now, US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian Affairs Richard Boucher Tuesday lauded the role of Pakistan in war against terror and reassured continued US support in what he termed as ‘international war on terror’. He said this during his meeting with Governor Punjab, Salman Taseer here at Governor House. “United States and Pakistan are important allies in the international war on terror,” Boucher said, adding, “The overall US-Pakistan friendly relations are much more broad-based than just this.” Governor Punjab on the occasion said terrorism posed grave threat to the international peace and that Pakistan will not allow terrorists to use its soil in fulfilling their nefarious motives. “Pakistan is waging war against terrorism in its own interest and not on behalf of any other country,” Salman Taseer maintained.
