Punjab Govt directs to provide data of non-registered
madaris
LAHORE:
The Government of Punjab has directed to provide complete particulars
of non-registered madaris, out of 6,765 religious madrassas established
in the province, and also the particulars of the foreign students,
studying in these madaris.
District administrative and secret agencies have been
directed to collect detailed particulars of all religious madrassas
present in 34 districts of Punjab.
This has been asked in the circular issued to the administration
of each district to get all information of each madrassa, i-e, full
name of the madrassa, address, when it was established, registered
or non-registered, with which board or institution it is affiliated,
name, address, NIC number of its head, number of teachers, permanent
or temporary, number of students, local and foreign students, etc.
According to the sources, it was said in the initial
information regarding religious madaris received by the government
that in all, there are 6,765 small and large religious madrassas in
Punjab. Most of them are in Bahawalnagar where they are 610 in number
whereas there are 485 madrassas in Lahore and 456 in Multan. In Chakwal,
only 57 madrassas are working and this is the lowest number compared
to other districts.
