Interior ministry directs foreigners to restrict
movements
ISLAMABAD:
Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao said Wednesday that six
kilogram explosive material has been used for suicide attack in F-8
Centre.
The interior minister was informed about F-8 Centre
terrorism incident at a high-level meeting here. He was told that
suicide attacker’s identity and other information could not
be ascertained as yet.
Senior high officials of law enforcing agencies including
federal interior secretary, IG and chief commissioner Islamabad attended
the meeting.
Talking to Geo News after the meeting, the interior
minister said intelligence report signals threat of more terrorist
activities, for which stringent measures are being adopted and police
and rangers are being appointed on city exits and entrances.
Sherpao said the security has been put on red alert
on public places, markets and important thoroughfares with increased
number of security personnel.
The special directives have been issued to the Foreigners
Security Cell regarding restricting foreigners and diplomats’
movements so that they might be guarded against any possible untoward
incident.
Keeping in view the feared terrorist activity, it was
decided to discourage public gatherings so that law and order situation
in the country could be averted, he added.
Aftab Sherpao said that mobile phone sims were
found from the scene of suicide blast, in the light of which investigations
are underway.
