Musharraf directs to evolve consensus on amendment in Hudood Ordinances
RAWALPINDI: President General Pervez Musharraf on Saturday directed the Ministry of law to evolve consensus on amendment in Hudood Ordinances.
He issued these directives during a high level meeting here at the Presidential camp office.
The president also directed the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) to review the Hudood Ordinances in light of Quran and Sunnat.
He also directed the Law ministry to prepare a draft law till Monday for the immediate release of all female prisoners jailed under the Hudood Ordinances, in crimes other than terrorism, robbery and assassination, said Wasi Zafar Federal law minister while talking to Geo News after the meeting.
The draft law would be enforced through promulgation of an ordinance, under which the women languishing in jails for long time, in minor cases, would be released.
